Article marketing has always been thought of as one of the better ways of getting targeted traffic to your website and getting some backlinks to help improve its SE rankings. But is this really the truth? Does article marketing still work today?
Let me just say right off that yes…article marketing still works today and is one of the best methods of building traffic, rankings and income you can put into action. The biggest key though is in doing it the right way, and that is where many people get messed up.
Take a look at the various forums and look at all of the threads that talk about writing and blasting out 100’s of articles a week to try and make a few Clickbank sales or other affiliate product sales. The forums are full of this type of advice. Amazingly, people will follow right in line and waste their time doing just that!
Sadly, when people follow this advice and write tons of these garbage articles to find out it doesn’t make any money for them, they say that article marketing doesn’t work. And they are right…sending out 100’s of keyword stuffed, spam types of articles is not going to work. Ezine Articles will not even let you post them up anymore as they have been on a mission to clean out the garbage with these types of articles.
One of the keys to successful article marketing is to put yourself in the readers frame of mind. They don’t want to read a junk article that is filled with only nonsense and offers nothing of substance and is only designed to try and force the reader to go to your sites. Would you want to visit their site after attempting to read something like that? Of course not.
Write an article that is interesting and appeals to your reader. You will find that writing one good article can often times send more traffic to your site than writing 100 of those junk articles ever would. Sounds a little more refreshing…less work for more traffic!
I’m not suggesting you have to write a best-selling novel. Simply add useful information that helps answer the reader’s questions and makes them want to find out more from you.
Another tip is to not be concerned with keyword density. This is something that was popular several years ago before Google caught on and put the clamps on keyword stuffing. Instead, have your keyword in the title, first paragragh and maybe one other time in the article if it fits in well. Add in other related keywords and you will be fine. The main thing is to write for your readers and not the search engines.
Submit your articles to a few of the top article directories. There is really no need to blast them out to 500 different directories. It doesn’t do you any good and provides no benefits.
Some of the top directories I would recommend are:
Ezine Articles
Go Articles
Search Warp
Articles Base
Idea Marketers
Amazines
Article Dashboard
Done right, article marketing works great. It will produce traffic to your sites for years to come and more importantly, more money in your bank account.
