Place Your Adsense Above The Fold – The majority of website visitors will look at websites and won’t scroll down the page unless they are really interested in your content. So if your Adsense blocks are towards the bottom of your page, you won’t get a good click through rate (CTR). But by placing your blocks in the optimum areas above the fold of the page, you have more chance of getting clicks.

Put Ads in your Content – If you look at many sites with Adsense on, they normally put the ads at the top and bottom of the page. So put a large or medium sized rectangle ad block at the top left of your article and you should get a good CTR.

Use Larger Ads – By using a large rectangle block, it will stand out and show more adverts than a standard banner sized ad. So you will increase the CTR by using them because the visitor has more of chance of seeing an ad that appeals to them and clicking on it.

Blend Your Ad Blocks into Your Page – One thing that almost always increases CTR is to get your ads not to look like ads. So you can make sure the background colour is the same colour as your web page and don’t use borders around the ads. That way people just think they are clicking a link for more information rather than clicking on an advert.

Target Your Site’s Content – Relevancy is one thing that Google strives for when showing ads on sites. If they aren’t too sure what to display on a page, then you probably won’t get targeted ads and no visitors will click on them. But if you specifically write your content so that each page is based around one topic, Google will be able to see exactly what the page is about and know what ads to show. This means you’ll get a higher CTR and your site will earn more money.
